The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) supports small to medium businesses (SME) and third sector organisations across Scotland that are interested in working with the public sector to encourage them to bid for the some £11 billion spent in Scotland’s public sector each year. Glasgow City Council is a member of the Supplier Development Programme, which is led by local authorities and other public sector organisations across Scotland. Each local authority and organisation has a named SDP Rep, and Glasgow City Council’s SDP Rep is Pauline Wallace, Development Officer.
SDP offers free expert tender training, support and information to help SME businesses win work.
Whether a business is just starting out in public sector procurement, or they’re a seasoned veteran that wins loads of public sector contracts across Scotland, the Supplier Development Programme offers a myriad of training, events, information, guidance, and resources that a SME can access for free. SDP’s ultimate aim is to help a business find, win and keep contracts. SDP offers free face-to-face workshops as well as webinars, and the content is designed to ensure they feel more confident in bidding for public sector contract opportunities through Public Contracts Scotland (PCS). The Supplier Development Programme has set the date for Meet the Buyer 2019, which is the biggest free procurement event of its kind in Scotland. This year, it will be held at Hampden Park National Stadium on Wednesday, 13 November 2019. Meet the Buyer North 2019 will be held on Wednesday, 4 September 2019 at Macdonald Aviemore Resort. These events are a great opportunity for local businesses to meet the real buyers in local authorities and other public bodies that are looking to procure everything including goods, services and works.
