Adaptocare Ltd – Supporting Growth Through Business Support

Adaptocare Ltd is a family-run Glasgow business specialising in accessible bathroom solutions, helping elderly, infirm and less able people maintain independence and dignity through tailored showering, bathing and toileting adaptations.

Over more than a decade, Adaptocare has worked closely with Glasgow City Council’s Economic Development team, accessing a range of support programmes designed to support business growth, workforce development and sustainability.

The company’s engagement began in 2012 through apprenticeship recruitment support via the Commonwealth Initiative and continued through the Glasgow Guarantee. These programmes helped Adaptocare recruit and develop local talent, with several apprentices progressing into permanent roles and remaining with the business today. Their continued success reflects both the value of the employability programmes and Adaptocare’s commitment to creating a positive and supportive working environment.

More recently, Adaptocare has benefited from Digital Expert Support through Business Glasgow, receiving specialist advice to refresh its website and strengthen its social media presence. This support has helped the company enhance its digital marketing activity, improve online visibility and better connect with customers.

Alongside its growth ambitions, Adaptocare has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability. Following carbon baseline reporting, the company successfully secured a Green Business Grant which supported the installation of PV solar panels at its premises. Additional investment in two electric vehicles and EV charging infrastructure has further reduced the company’s environmental impact and contributed to Glasgow’s wider Net Zero ambitions.

As the business continues to evolve, Adaptocare is now exploring opportunities through the Glasgow Business Growth Programme to support its next stage of development and unlock future growth potential.

Stuart McKee, Director at Adaptocare, emphasised that the "immense support available has always been accessible, practical, and easy to understand" with advisers taking the time to understand the needs of the business and identify relevant opportunities for growth and improvement. From workforce development and digital enhancement to sustainability initiatives and future growth planning, Stuart recognised the value of having access to a broad network of expertise and support programmes, noting that whatever stage a business is at, there is always guidance, funding or a network available to help businesses develop, improve and achieve their ambitions.
