White Cart Counselling - Business Start Up Support

White Cart Counselling is a health and wellbeing business providing individual counselling services and mental health support groupwork.

Since launching in August 2026, Louise Hutchinson has worked closely with Business Glasgow to establish her new business. With one-to-one support from adviser Gail Connelly, Louise received guidance on developing a business plan, preparing cashflow projections and understanding the costs involved in starting and running her business.

Through the Business Start-Up Programme, Louise also attended webinars covering setting up a business and basic bookkeeping, helping her develop her knowledge and confidence as a new business owner. With support from Gail, she successfully applied for a start-up grant to help cover essential costs.

The funding will enable Louise to purchase a printer and pay her professional fees, helping to make these essential costs more affordable during the early stages of trading and providing a strong foundation for her counselling business.

Louise described her experience of working with Business Glasgow as really helpful, highlighting Gail’s support, knowledge and encouragement throughout her start-up journey.

Louise Hutchinson, Founder, said:

“The support I received from my advisor at Business Gateway was immeasurable. As a total beginner, I was helped to navigate all the necessary steps in setting up a business and was also given the support I needed to access a startup grant. I don’t think I could have set my counselling business up without this help.”

Gail Connelly, Business Adviser, said:

“Louise self-funded her Postgraduate Diploma in CBT before seeking support to start her business. We worked together to complete her business plan, and she subsequently secured start-up funding. She has also secured a contract with a local carers association while actively promoting her services to individual clients and other potential customers. Louise is now ready to launch her business and commence trading.”
