The Gaitherin is a regular meet-up of Glasgow's entrepreneurs and academic researchers; a forum where business challenges can be shared, where new research outputs can be showcased, and where new ideas for collaboration can be forged. Glasgow's research covers quantum technologies, alternative energy, biotechnology, stratified medicine, data science and a whole host of other areas; there is no single technical focus at the Gaitherin - the most interesting ideas emerge from hearing about something new.

The next Gaitherin will take place on May 12th, and will feature the usual opportunity for entrepreneurs and academic researchers to pitch their work to one another - if you would like to see how you could innovate in your business based on Glasgow's research or if you'd like to see what Glasgow's entrepreneurial minds could do with your research, get in touch with socsci-research-office@gla.ac.uk to register for a pitch slot.

May's event will also feature a discussion on Business Model Innovation, led by Glasgow's own Stephan von Delft, a rising star of the Adam Smith Business School. Stephan will be speaking with his collaboration partner, Neil Campbell, from innovative Glasgow insurance brokerage firm CCRS Brokers, who are making the most of government funding to use Stefan's expertise to drive forward their business.

So if you're interested in sharing your latest research advance in anything from synthetic biology to plasma technology, or in learning more about how business-university collaborations work, we’ll see you at Tontine!
