Councillor Susan Aitken - Leader of Glasgow City Council

Susan Aitken became Leader of Glasgow City Council when the SNP became the largest party on the Council and formed a minority administration in May 2017. She was elected as a councillor for the Langside ward, where she lives, in 2012 and has been leader of the SNP group since 2014, having previously served as the group spokesperson on health and social care.

 

Mayor Eric Garcetti - Mayor Los Angeles

Eric Garcetti is a fourth-generation Angeleno and the 42nd Mayor of Los Angeles. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley — the son of public servants and the grandson and great-grandson of immigrants from Mexico and Eastern Europe — Mayor Garcetti’s life has been shaped by a deep commitment to the core values of justice, dignity, and equality for all people.

 

Gillian Doherty OBE - Chief Executive Officer of The Data Lab

Gillian Docherty is chief executive of The Data Lab, Scotland’s innovation centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence with a mission to help Scotland maximise value from data and lead the world to a data-powered future.

The Data Lab believes Scotland can lead the world to a future where data powers scientific progress, economic prosperity and social good. 

 

Guy Jefferson - Chief Operating Officer SP Energy Networks

Guy Jefferson has worked within the SP Group for over 25 years and has gained a wealth of experience in a number of different roles in the UK including Asset & Maintenance Director, Operations Director, SP Distribution Director and Customer Service Director for SP Energy Networks. As well as completing International assignments for SP, Guy has also held a number of leading roles in the community including Board membership of the Princes Trust in Scotland and also previously held the post of BITC Welsh Ambassador for Sustainable Business on behalf of HRH the Prince of Wales.  In 2021, Guy was appointed as Chief Operating Officer for SP Energy Networks.

 

Professor Sir Jim McDonald, BSc, MSc, PhD, DSc, CEng - Principal and Vice-Chancellor for University of Strathclyde

Professor Sir Jim McDonald is Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde. He Co-chairs, with the First Minister of Scotland, the Scottish Government’s Energy Advisory Board.  He is Co-Chair of the Independent Glasgow Economic Leadership Board.  He currently holds several senior business appointments with organisations including the Weir Group plc, Scottish Power plc, the UK National Physical Laboratory and the UK Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.  Additionally, he Chairs or participates in several senior committees related to research, economic development and education.

 

Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli FRSE AcSS - Principal and Vice-Chancellor for University of Glasgow

Sir Anton is Principal and Vice-Chancellor, University of Glasgow, since 1 October 2009. From 2007-2009 he was Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University. An economist, his research interests are monetary economics, central bank independence, fiscal policy, international finance and macroeconomics. Prior to 2007 he held various roles at the University of Glasgow including Vice-Principal - Strategy, Budgeting and Advancement (2004-07); Daniel Jack Professor of Political Economy (1994-2007); and Professor and Lecturer, Department of Economics (1984-94).

Professor Greg Clark CBE FAcSS - Global Advisor on Cities

Greg Clark is Group Advisor, Future Cities & New Industries at HSBC Group with its global client base in 63 countries and 300 cities. He is chair of the Connected Places Catapult, the UK’s innovation accelerator for cities, transport and place-leadership.
