Co-operative Glasgow programme selected as a Good Practice City by EU URBACT Programme

Glasgow has been selected as a Good Practice City by the EU’s URBACT Programme for the Co-operative Glasgow programme. There were over 300 submissions and Glasgow was one of the successful 97 chosen and one of only six in the UK. URBACT is the EU’s programme for tackling the challenges of urban development and implements projects in many areas including social inclusion, poverty and sustainable development. Glasgow has participated in a number of URBACT networks over the years including Roma Net and My Generation at Work.

Over the next year, Glasgow will be promoted at an EU level for its work in developing and implementing more co-operative ways of working and supporting the development of the co-operative and social enterprise sector. Members of the ESI team will be attending the award ceremony in Tallinn in October, during which they will be promoting Co-operative Glasgow during an intensive 3-day ‘Meet the Cities’ programme, with a view to becoming a lead city in a new call for URBACT networks.
